Covering Verne

I discovered the books of Jules Verne rather early in my childhood. The legendary co-founder of science fiction genre (together with H. G. Wells) pulled me away from a time of war and worries into his worlds of wonders and adventures. He charged and triggered my imagination like no other writer before or after him. And what is fascinating is that most of his science fiction eventually became actual science and some of his mind’s mechanical creations soon became technological inventions! Thus he was called “the prophet”. Recently designer Jim Tierney came up with clever concepts for his senior thesis, he basically covered four of Verne’s masterpieces and even though its still uncertain whether any books will be published with those particular covers, the concepts alone have been enough for him to win an award! I really love these and really wish for these editions to see the light of day, and thereafter the shadow of the shelves of my collection.
